The album: This album is essentially what came out of the ashes of my abandoned project Circle of Dreams. Originally a disorganised mess, this is a concept album about a fictional character who, through lucid dreaming and astral projection, discovers his soul mate and quests to find her. This album is different to my previous works in that there are no longer any piano parts in the mix, as I have put a bass guitar in its place. My overall aim with the album is to make it more ambient and atmospheric than my previous works, and the combination of synthesised bass guitar and heavy use of synthesised string sections comes together to make this happen.
Enter Lucidity: This song describes the experiences of our protagonist from a second-person perspective as he delves into the world of lucid dreaming. It is through his lucid dreaming that he eventually learns of his soul mate and quests to find her, which occurs next in Duality.
Duality: As mentioned, in Duality our protagonist sets out on his quest to find his soul mate. He realises at the start that the journey will be long and difficult, but nonetheless he pushes himself ever onwards. He is ultimately successful and enjoys a happy life with his soul mate. This does not last, however...
Fading Away: Alas tragedy has struck and our protagonist's soul mate has met her untimely demise. Our protagonist mourns her loss as he struggles to accept the reality of what has happened. He realises that only in death will they be together once again, and thus he awaits the time that they can once again reunite in the afterlife.
Funeralis: This song pays tribute to our protagonist's dearly departed soul mate as we pay our last respects at her funeral. Speaking of the passage of time and of the change that time brings, this song preserves the memory of those who are no longer with us on the physical world.
Lost Dreams: Unfortunately time has not healed the wounds of our protagonist who still cannot accept the loss of his soul mate. He is haunted every night by visions of his own death, as each day he becomes further and further removed from reality. Eventually he has a vision that takes him to a clearing, where the spirit of his soul mate appears. She beckons him come forth, and he feels that he is lifted up onto the clouds. Lost in his world of fantasy, only too late does he realise he has stepped off the cliff and that his nightmares have come true. Eventually however, he awakens in the afterlife, once again reunited with his dual spirit, whom he will never again be parted from.
